The new medical facility, designed by Comito Associates Architects, is a 45,000 sf fertility facility and patient treatment center.
The new facility includes endocrine and andrology laboratories and is designed to be a fully functioning out-patient OR facility with related support to also function as an independent full service out-patient medical facility.
Situated on the corner of Route 70 and Route 73 on the site of the former Olga’s Diner, the new facility offers the latest in reproductive technology. The interior is comprised of embryology/andrology laboratories, procedure rooms, and support areas.
The design includes many high-end finishes and unique construction elements
The design of the new 3 story facility reflects RMA’s successful practice with a fresh prototype image to advance the RMA Brand, according to the Architects.
Architectural features of the building include a sweeping curve along the top two floors of its western side, and a three-story illuminated rectangle of moss and other living greens facing north.
Exterior features include a three-story living wall and a glass-walled atrium encased with a glass canopy which leads to a two-story entry plaza.
The Interior also includes many unique and high-end finishes. One of the most challenging and interesting parts of the Carpentry package was the large wood paneled ceilings. According to Wallworks foreman, Jim Sullivan, installation of the ceiling required careful planning and coordination. “Because of the size and weight of the wood panels, we had to carefully coordinate the installation with the above-ceiling work and medical equipment”, says Jim. “This was especially important in the medical treatment room where we had to also coordinate the cutouts for the specialty light fixtures and HVAC.
Built from the ground up, Wallworks’ work package included exterior framing, drywall and finishing, Doors, frames and hardware, and specialty ceilings.
The Project was SAFELY completed on schedule, with a high degree of quality control and careful project management.
